The beta versions of WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop include the ability to create stickers and share them in chats. Androidworld explains how this works.
Make your own stickers for WhatsApp
Since the beginning of this year it was finally possible to import animated sticker packs from third parties. Before that, you had to make do with the stickers that WhatsApp itself has been offering since 2018. It seems that those stickers are getting a more important place in the chat app. You can now create a group image with emoji and stickers in WhatsApp Beta, and WhatsApp is also working on the possibility to make your own stickers. That feature was spotted by YouTuber Mukul Sharma in WhatsApp Web beta.
We have tried the function in WhatsApp Web and making stickers yourself works as follows.
- Open WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop on your computer
- Install the latest version if there is
- Open a chat where you want to create and send a sticker
- Click on it paper clip and then the sticker icon
- Select a picture or photo that you want to make a sticker from
- Customize the picture with text, emoji, stickers or brush
- You can still resize the image and correct mistakes with the undo/redo buttons
- click on to send if you are happy with the result
When you’re done editing the sticker, send it to the contact in the conversation. The sticker will then appear just like a normal sticker. Tapping it doesn’t open it in the photo viewer, so you can’t zoom in. You can find your own stickers with the other stickers in WhatsApp, so you can use them again. Do you want to change something about the sticker? Then you have to start over, because you cannot edit an existing sticker. The sticker maker in WhatsApp Web doesn’t support GIFs, so you’ll have to make do with JPG, and PNG files. It is not yet known if and when WhatsApp will also make this feature possible for mobile phones. For now it only works on the computer.
