The BMW X7 is the largest SUV in the price list in Bavaria, but it is not ideal for advanced off-road work. Tuner Manhart Performance thinks differently about this and turns the moving apartment building into a true tank on wheels, complete with all-terrain tires!
Actually Manhart is still holding back quite a bit. The MHX7 650 Dirt Edition, as the creation is called in full, has no exuberant spoiler work or heavily rebuilt bumpers. Actually, the only cosmetic alteration to the bodywork is the wrap. Manhart has done some work on that, because it looks like the body panels of the X7 have been replaced by armored steel with rivets. The MHX7 rolls on Manhart-designed 20-inch ‘Black Rhino’ wheels with Maxxis off-road tires. Due to the high sidewall of the tires, the wheels themselves seem to be almost smaller. To accommodate these tires, Manhart adapted the X7’s air suspension, making the SUV 40 mm higher on its legs.
Of course, raising the X7 is also beneficial for ground clearance. With regard to the power, a few things had to be done. The standard X7 M50i got an exhaust system and downpipes from Manhart and if desired, the tuner removes the catalytic converter. The modified exhaust system, together with a modified ECU and a Powerbox, ensures that the X7 advances with 120 hp and 180 Nm, bringing the total to 650 hp and 920 Nm. Manhart does not say to what extent that affects performance. Incidentally, the brakes and the interior remain in principle untouched, but Manhart can also tackle these matters on request.
Not cheap
Do you see such a more terrain-worthy X7 with more power? Then you can draw the wallet. The adjusted ECU and the Powerbox together cost € 4,368.06. The wheels with off-road tires have to yield € 5,798.32, but without the increase of the air suspension at € 2,244.95 they will not fit under your car. The exhaust system is listed for € 3,450 and the modified downpipes without catalytic converter cost an additional € 1,588. One of the most expensive upgrades, however, is the wrap, for which you can get a whopping € 5,600.84. Incidentally, all the above amounts are exclusive of VAT. So you add up to € 23,049.33 for the rugged X7 before the tax authorities have stopped by. It goes without saying that you have to bring an X7 yourself in Wuppertal.
