Mario Kart Tour is getting a multiplayer function, allowing you to race against friends or strangers. On March 9, the new game modes will be added to the popular iOS game.
Mario Kart Tour Multiplayer Options
The multiplayer feature in Mario Kart Tour has three different options. This makes it possible to challenge friends or people nearby to a game with custom rules for the races. The second option is the ‘Standard Races’, where you are randomly assigned to a race with gamers you don’t know.

The last multiplayer option is called ‘Gold Races’. With it you can drive the fastest and most challenging races against other gamers. The rules change daily. You do need a fairly pricey Gold Pass subscription to the game for this.
Extensively tested
It was already known for a while that a multiplayer version of Mario Kart Tour for iOS was coming. Nintendo has been running a closed beta of the game since December last year. Since January it was possible to register for a public beta to test the multiplayer function.
Mario Kart Tour came out in the fall of last year and turned out to be a bull’s eye. In the review we wrote: “The game plays nicely, with nice short races and especially a lot of things to unlock.” The disadvantage turned out to be that the game asked for quite a lot of money. “The emphasis is very much on making in-app purchases, where you don’t always know you’re getting.” In the 2019 annual review, we labeled the game as one of the best of the year.
Mario Kart Tour multiplayer live on the night of March 9 9
The multiplayer mode will go live on March 8, at 8 p.m. Pacific Time, according to Nintendo. Due to the time difference, it will be early in the morning of March 9 in the Netherlands. As soon as you wake up, you can immediately start a race against others.
