Mazda CX-30 EV electric presented

Special EV news. Mazda presents a fully electric version of the CX-30 in China. With the CX-30 EV, known as crossover, Mazda is pushing the envelope. In a literal sense.

Mazda shows the CX-30 EV in China, a fully electric version of the CX-30. That is somewhat striking, in Europe the model is after all only available with (mild hybrid) petrol engines. The CX-30 EV probably serves in China as an alternative to the electric MX-30 that is not available there.

The CX-30 EV is officially still a design study and therefore mainly serves as a preview of the arrival of an electric CX-30. There are no technical specifications yet, but based on the first images it can be concluded that the CX-30 EV is a somewhat temporary solution. Since the CX-30’s platform was not designed in principle with the advent of an electric powertrain in mind, Mazda has elevated the concept car to make way for the battery pack. To camouflage the package somewhat, Mazda provides the CX-30 EV with running boards all around, which create a somewhat peculiar whole. The car also gets slightly different bumper work all around.

We do not expect the CX-30 EV on the market in Europe. In China, the CX-30 is sold through Mazda’s partnership with Changan.
