Mercedes AMG CLE 53

Mercedes-Benz is rapidly expanding the delivery range of the brand new CLE Coupé. The successor to both the C and E-class Coupé was recently introduced to mild-hybrid six-cylinder engines and now a variant with six engines has been added. Not just any, but a real AMG. This is the Mercedes-Benz CLE 53 4Matic Coupé.

The first AMG version of the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé is called CLE 53 4Matic and, with 449 hp and 560 Nm, is currently the variant with the most powerful engine. That almost 450 hp comes from a mild-hybrid 3.0 inline-six with two turbos. Like other mild-hybrid Mercedes engines, the CLE 53 4Matic has an integrated starter alternator that briefly adds 23 hp and 205 Nm. You shift gears via an AMG Speedshift transmission with nine gears. The box then distributes the power to all four wheels. After all, 4Matic is in the model name for a reason.

With its 449 hp, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. Its top speed is 250 km/h, although this can be increased to 270 km/h for an additional charge. Of course its power and speed are attractions, but the appearance of the first CLE AMG is undoubtedly so for its buyers. It has a grille with vertical bars characteristic of AMG models and not only has a more aggressive-looking front bumper, but also side skirts, an attached rear bumper with vertical air slots and a diffuser, four round exhaust pipes and a rear spoiler. The CLE 53 comes with 19-inch wheels as standard, 20-inch wheels are optional. The track width is 5.8 centimeters wider at the front and 7.5 centimeters at the rear than on the non-AMG versions. Extra potent inhibitors should be able to calm him down properly again. The front discs have a diameter of 37 centimeters. They are 36 centimeters tall at the back. Furthermore, it has various driving modes thanks to AMG Dynamic Select and therefore a variable suspension and a co-steering and counter-steering rear axle is standard.

Of course, a sporty AMG interior is not missing. The sportiest CLE yet has sports seats covered with microfiber and artificial leather, including integrated headrests, red seat belts and carbon-finish. Mercedes-AMG supplies leather, nappa leather and AMG Performance seats for an additional charge. A double-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel is standard.

There are no Dutch prices yet.
