Mercedes-AMG is smoothly pulling the curtain on not one, but two brand-new AMG versions of the electric EQE. Meet the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 and 53 4Matic!

Mercedes-AMG has already proven that the AMG label goes well with electric powertrains by developing an AMG derivative of the electric top model EQS. Now the smaller EQE is also getting acquainted with the technical knowledge and skills of Affalterbach. Unlike the EQS, the EQE will get not one, but two AMG versions.

43 AMG

The least potent of the bunch listens to the name Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4Matic, which you can compare in terms of placement with the E 53 AMG variant of the E-class. Purely in terms of power, there is virtually no comparison to be made. Mercedes-AMG is already pumping the EQE 43 4Matic full with two 476 hp and 858 Nm strong electric motors, good for a 0-100 sprint in 4.2 seconds. The E 53 kicks it up to 435 hp and – partly thanks to its lower weight – reaches 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The top speed of the entry-level AMG of the EQE is 210 km/h and with that he must of course let his petrol brother go ahead.

The real pacesetter of the AMG party is the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+, which in principle produces 626 hp and 950 Nm. That variant, which you can compare some positioning with the E 63 AMG, zooms to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h. For comparison: the E 63 AMG squeezes 571 hp and 750 Nm from a biturbo 4.0 V8 and thunders to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. The E 63 AMG has an extra potent S variant and according to the same philosophy, the EQE 53 4Matic also gets a superlative degree. The EQE 53 4Matic is available with the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which increases the power to 687 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. In this configuration, the EQE 53 4Matic zooms to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h. The battery pack measures 90.6 kWh in both the 43 and 53 AMGs.

Of course, the two AMG versions are more than just EQEs with powerful electric motors. For example, Mercedes-AMG gives the pair the AMG Ride Control + suspension with adaptive dampers and air suspension. The potent duo should be stiffer than the more conventional versions and rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to 3.6 degrees is standard. In addition, you can of course choose from various driving modes via AMG Dynamic Select.

From the outside, the two AMG versions don’t even look that radically different from the EQE with the optional AMG Line package. You can recognize them, among other things, by the closed Black Panel grille in which Mercedes has pasted vertical bars. Digital Light sounders are standard and play a visual AMG tune when opening and locking the car. The bumpers have slightly different edges and openings, but it is not as exuberant as the AMG versions in the E-class distinguish themselves from their milder brothers.

The AMG party continues unabated in the interior. In addition to various AMG badges, you will find a flattened and leather-covered steering wheel at the bottom. AMG sports pedals and sports seats, as well as a whole range of red accents and floor mats, are also part of the fun package.
