More than 110 kilometers of electric range
The Mercedes-Benz CLE will get an engine version. It produces no less than 313 hp, making it considerably stronger than the 204 hp entry-level model. And yet it is less expensive. The Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé is now also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé was currently in the order books from €71,277. For that amount, Mercedes-Benz will give you the keys to a CLE 200 Coupé in AMG Line trim, complete with a mild hybrid 204 hp (+23 hp) 2.0 four-cylinder. From a purely price point of view, there is now a new entry-level model: the Mercedes-Benz CLE 300e. It has a 313 hp plug-in hybrid drivetrain and, thanks to its favorable CO2 emissions on paper, is less affected by the BPM monster than the CLE 200. Remarkable!
The powertrain of the Mercedes-Benz CLE 300e consists of a 204 hp 2.0 four-cylinder engine that is assisted by a 129 hp electric motor. The system power: 313 hp and 550 Nm. Shifting is done with a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. This combination helps the rear-wheel drive plug-in reach a speed of 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. Its top: 236 km/h. The CLE 300e has a 19.53 kWh battery pack, good for a fully electric range of 111 kilometers. The plug-in hybrid drivetrain makes the CLE 300e considerably heavier than the CLE 200. While the CLE 200 weighs 1,790 kilos, the CLE 300e weighs no less than 2,175 kilos.
Like every other non-AMG version of the CLE, the Mercedes-Benz CLE 300e has always been designed as an AMG Line. It has a starting price of €70,876 and, despite its more than 300 hp, more complex powertrain, it is therefore slightly less expensive than the CLE 200. The plug-in hybrid powertrain seems – at least for the time being – to pass the nose of the CLE Cabrio.
