Yes, another extended newcomer today. This time a stretched model with a star on the nose. The facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-class was presented in an extended form in China.
Last week it was BMW that presented the renewed 5-series in an extended form to the Chinese consumer and now its direct opponent Mercedes-Benz has also been renewed. We are of course talking about the L version of the E-class.
The renewed E-Class naturally benefits from the same thorough facelift that Mercedes-Benz introduced on the European version of the model at the beginning of this year. The E-Class L, produced by the Beijing Benz joint venture, has a wheelbase that, at 3.08 meters, is no less than 14 centimeters longer than that of the model known here. The Chinese extended E-class has a total length of 5.07 meters, also a good 14 centimeters more than the E-class Limousine as it is in the Dutch showrooms. The outgoing S-class in the shortest version is still a size larger than the long E-class, but at 3.04 meters, the wheelbase of that S is smaller than that of the extended E.
Mercedes-Benz E-class L.
Beijing Benz gives the extended E-class a striking emblem on its C-pillar, a design element that seems to represent an L. Mercedes-Benz has just as before presented a sumptuously decorated Exclusive Line of the long E. The Exclusive Line is also available in Europe for the E-class known here. The Exclusive Line is characterized by the proudly standing Mercedes logo, as well as the radiator grille with its three chrome-plated horizontal louvers and the chrome-plated bumper and window pillars. A less classic AMG Line is also available. Incidentally, the extended E-class is not coming to the Netherlands.
