Mercedes-Benz has a very wide model range and if the brand even gets the chance, it will also pump every segment full with an electric EQ alternative. The electric EQS will soon get the EQS SUV next to it and in the same way the brand will come up with an SUV variant of the EQE. That EQE has now been captured on spy footage.
Mercedes-Benz prefers to give every model a fully electric EQ alternative. For example, the EQA and EQB are electric versions of the GLA and GLB respectively, but in the higher segments the brand follows a different strategy. For example, the electric EQS is on a completely different platform than the EQS and the EQE has nothing to do with the E-class except for its positioning in the electric range. Just as the S-class has the GLS as an SUV alternative and the GLE is the SUV in the E-class segment, the EQS and EQE successively get the EQS SUV and EQE SUV next to them. The EQE’s electric SUV brother has now been caught and photographed.
Like the well-known EQE and EQS, the EQE SUV is on a variant of the modular MEA platform specifically intended for the larger, more expensive EVs from Mercedes-Benz. Only at a later stage will Mercedes-Benz launch a dedicated EV platform for its smaller models. We can assume that the EQE SUV will come on the market with hardware that the brand will first introduce at the EQE. For the time being, we only know the EQE digitally as the EQE 350, a version with a 90 kWh battery and a 292 hp and 520 Nm strong electric motor on the rear axle. In any case, count on more powerful variants for both the EQE and EQE SUV, including engine versions with four-wheel drive. The EQE SUV will also undoubtedly receive an AMG version, as will the EQE. After all, an EQS AMG also exists.
During the IAA in Munich, Mercedes’ Maybach department already showed an SUV that broadly shows what you can expect from the EQS SUV. In the same way that the EQE appears to be a scaled-down EQS, the EQE SUV promises to be a scaled-down variant of the EQS SUV. In that respect, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept was more important than you might have initially thought.
The EQE SUV and EQS SUV will make their public debut next year.
