Mercedes wants to double Maybach sales

Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes, says it wants to double the sales figures of the super luxury label Maybach.

According to Reuters, twice as many Mercedes-Maybachs should be sold soon, although no specific deadline is set. In the Netherlands, such an S-class fitted out by Maybach is really a special feature, but in Russia and many other countries, such an ultra-luxurious and ultra-long S-class is the ‘vehicle of choice’ for many super rich.

The future wish for Maybach does not come out of the blue, of course, but follows after the Maybach version of the all-new S-class was presented yesterday. That Mercedes thinks that there is still some stretch in the Maybach sales, is also certainly not surprising. In addition to a completely new S-class, Maybach now also has a variant of the top SUV GLS in the range. In addition, there are still some possibilities for expansion in the future, including in the form of an electric model. Again not surprising, because with the EQS Mercedes will soon have an electric limousine at home that can serve as an excellent basis.

Since 2014

The Maybach brand originally dates from 1909 and was bought by Daimler-Benz in 1960. At the beginning of this century two models appeared under this brand name, the Maybach 57 and the Maybach 62. These limousines, in fact two length variants of the same car, did not bring Mercedes what the brand had hoped for. The Germans took a different approach with the spiritual successors. Since 2014, the name ‘Maybach’ has appeared on a modified, super-luxurious and extra-long version of the S-class. The name is thus processed in the way that is customary at AMG today: instead of ‘Mercedes-Benz S-Class’, the top version is called ‘Mercedes-Maybach S-Class’. It is now entering its second generation.
