Microsoft is working on some cool new features for Microsoft Edge on the Mac. Is Edge now the best browser on your Mac?
Microsoft combines Edge with AI
Microsoft previously announced that it will allow its own search engine to work more closely with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. By integrating OpenAI into Microsoft’s services, you as a user get many more options. This way you will soon have the option to have texts written for you and it will even be possible to have images made for you.

The latter has recently become possible with Microsoft Edge on the Mac. The company has Dall-e integrated in the browser. This is a service that allows you to compile images yourself. We explain exactly how this works.
Dall-e now available in Microsoft Edge
ChatGPT and Dall-e are OpenAI services that can be used by anyone. With ChatGPT the AI writes texts for you, with Dall-e the service fabricates images for you. Microsoft plans to expand services such as PowerPoint and Microsoft Edge with the services of OpenAI. That is why it is now possible to create your own images in Edge with the arrival of Dall-e.
Dall-e therefore works in principle the same as ChatGPT: you enter a certain search term and the AI then starts working with that term. Instead of text, an image will now appear, based on the keywords you entered. You can find Dall-e in Microsoft Edge on your Mac in the sidebar. If you click on the icon with the image there, you automatically get the option to type in a search term.
ChatGPT was already available in Edge
The introduction of Dall-e comes after the integration of ChatGPT in Microsoft Edge on the Mac. Previously, when you looked up something in the browser, you were redirected to other websites that might give you the answer to the question. With the arrival of ChatGPT, the browser now gives you a direct answer to that question, without redirects to other websites.
Be careful when using ChatGPT, because the chat service is not (yet) completely up-to-date. The service does not have access to the most recent information, which means that answers from the AI may not be complete or even incorrect. It is therefore wise to always check the answers, so that you are sure that the answer given is correct.
Microsoft Edge keeps getting better
Now that Microsoft is focusing on the processing of OpenAI in, for example, Microsoft Edge on your Mac, the browser is getting better and more extensive. Because of this, it is definitely recommended to install Microsoft Edge on your Mac, you will then automatically notice whether you like using the browser. For example, do you need a specific image for social media or PowerPoint? Then Dall-e is a very handy addition.

It will be interesting whether Apple will also work with AI in Safari, for example. For now it doesn’t look like it yet, so Microsoft’s browser is a lot more extensive. Microsoft Edge is a free download for Mac from Microsoft’s website. For the iPhone and iPad you can go to the App Store. Curious about all the new features of the browser?
