Mild hybrid technology for BMW 3 Series, X3 and X4

BMW reports between nose and lips that it will add new mild hybrid versions to the range of three models in the short term.

Last year BMW brought some interesting technology to the 5-series. The 190 hp 520d and its four-wheel drive xDrive counterpart were equipped with mild hybrid technology. Early this year, the X5 and X6 also became available with mild hybrid diesel. BMW now reports that the 5 Series and its SUV brothers are not the only models that can count on a small portion of electrical support.

This spring, BMW will be adding new engine versions with mild hybrid technology to the delivery range of three models: the 3 series, the X3 and the X4. At the time of writing, which engines can count on the arrival of a 48v starter generator is not yet known, but we are aiming for these models to include the 190 hp diesel engines (320d and 20d).
