Minor updates for 2023 BMW R 1250 R

After the big news of the new S 1000 RR, M 1000 R and M 1000 RR, BMW Motorrad has now announced the first news of motorcycles for the normal world: an updated R 1250 R, the roadster model of the boxer family. According to BMW, the modest updates will be received with open arms by the drivers who have asked for it.

Like the 2022 model, the 2023 BMW R 1250 R is powered by the 1,254cc ShiftCam boxer engine, rated at 136PS at 7,250rpm and maximum torque of 143Nm at 6,250rpm.

According to the Germans, the block is now optimized to provide a balance between power, smoothness, fuel consumption and low emissions.

What’s really new? Motorcyclists asked and BMW Motorrad listened. For 2023, the R 1250 R now gets a full LED headlight as standard, along with LED turn signals and daytime running lights. In addition, an adaptive cornering light is available at an additional cost.

In terms of electronic driving aids, the R 1250 R is equipped as standard with Dynamic Traction Control, BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control and three driving modes, including an Eco mode. In addition, the bike comes standard with BMW’s “Sport” Core Screen, 12V and USB connections and Intelligent Emergency Call.

What about options? If you know BMW, you know they have had enough. You can choose from a standard seat or a cover for the pillion passenger, as an option seat heating is available for both the rider and the pillion passenger. Finally, your R 1250 R can optionally be fitted with wire wheels instead of the standard cast parts.

The 2023 BMW R 1250 R is available in two variants: Sport and Triple Black. The Sport variant comes in a Racing Blue Metallic livery, with a white frame, gold front and rear brake calipers and a black sports steering wheel. The Triple Black variant comes in a Blackstorm metallic colorway, with an agate gray frame, gold front and rear brake calipers and stainless steel accents.
