Mazda, as usual with this brand, makes minor changes to the CX-30 and the 3. For example, the SkyActiv-X engine has been examined, but the equipment also had to believe it.

Let’s start with the engine. The innovative, ‘self-igniting’ e-SkyActiv-X petrol engine has already been updated, adding 6 horsepower to the total. This time the power is maintained at 186 hp and nothing changes in the other specifications. Instead, the sound of the engine would have been improved. We assume that Mazda means that the block is quieter from now on and that is of course always a plus.

The Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-30 will also remain available with the e-SkyActiv-G with 122 hp. The intermediate step, an e-SkyActiv-G with 150 hp, was already available with the 3 and is now also being introduced with the CX-30. Here too, the engine is reserved for the Sportive trim. A CX-30 in this version costs €34,990.

Both Mazda models will be presented with a new paint color, the bronze-like Platinum Quartz. Unfortunately there is no picture of that yet, but it is also on these 2. The 3 actually gets a real visual change, although you have to look very closely to see the difference. Mazda mentions new taillights, with ‘turn signals in Kodo design’. We suspect that it concerns LED turn signals that switch on in one fell swoop, and then go out slowly. The CX-30 already had this unique Mazda feature, but the 3 did not yet.

Finally, on a technological level, Mazda reports new Connected Vehicle functions, with which certain things can be controlled via an app. With that we are there, although the price list is also being tweaked a bit. For example, the SkyActiv-X engine in the CX-30 can now also be combined with the entry-level equipment level, making a CX-30 with this power source logically more accessible. The Mazda 3 of the new model year is available from €28,490, a CX-30 costs at least €31,490. The Mazda 3 is still available as a hatchback and as a sedan, which is quite unique in the Netherlands.
