More and more cars with factory four-season tires

The all-season tire is on the rise. Goodyear sees it as the fastest growing tire segment. We spoke to Laurent Colantonio, Regional Technology Director Consumer at Goodyear.

All-season tires are becoming increasingly popular, do you expect further growth?

“As inventors of the all-season tyre, we at Goodyear can understand its great popularity, it’s useful to have a set of tires for all conditions, which is also attractively priced. The all-season tire segment is still the fastest growing.”

For which vehicle segment do you recommend all-season tires?

“They are just as suitable for electric vehicles and hybrids as they are for combustion engine models.”

What is the biggest challenge in developing new all-season tires?

“That is finding a good balance between the properties that allow the tire to function under different conditions, without compromise.”

Is it conceivable that new cars will roll off the production line with all-season tires?

“We already work with more than ten car manufacturers who have chosen our Vector all-season tires as initial equipment. We will continue to work with the leading manufacturers in Europe and around the world.”

On the Goodyear site it is about Audi, for the A1, Ford that the Focus, Fiesta, C-Max and S-Max deliver with this tire as standard, but we also see the Seat Leon, Volkswagen Golf, Opel Corsa, Opel Astra and the Renault Megane. This will not apply to every country and will depend on the choice of the local importer.
