More and more lease drivers are dissatisfied with employer rules

Almost one in five lease drivers in the Netherlands are quite dissatisfied with the rules set by their employer regarding driving a lease car. That percentage is higher than last year. This is evident from figures from the Association of Business Drivers (VZR).

A survey by VZR among its members shows that no fewer than 19 percent of lease drivers in the Netherlands are ‘dissatisfied to very dissatisfied’ with the current agreements with the employer regarding the use of the lease car. Last year this percentage was still 12 percent, seven percentage points lower. Just under 60 percent of lease drivers have a positive opinion about their car scheme.

According to VZR, the number of restrictions for employees in the so-called car schemes is increasing. The figures show that 54 percent of respondents are faced with a limitation on the CO2 emissions of the lease car. A year earlier, that percentage was three percentage points lower. Four in ten lease drivers have to choose from a limited number of brands when choosing a lease car. According to VZR, this makes it difficult for employees to find a lease car that meets environmental standards without sacrificing things such as ‘functionality’.

VZR also notes that the number of lump sum schemes included in car schemes is increasing. In 51 percent of cases, there are lump sum payments, compared to 45 percent a year earlier.

Are you faced with provisions in your lease construction that cause obstacles or annoying restrictions?
