Clio E-Tech hybrid and Captur E-Tech plug-in hybrid now on display
Renault Clio E-Tech
Renault releases more information about the upcoming Clio and Captur hybrids. Modular E-Tech technology makes it possible to design Renault models as plug-in hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Both variants can be seen at the Brussels motor show from tomorrow.
Renault has already announced the hybrid variants of the Clio and Captur. From tomorrow you can view both at the Brussels motor show. For the occasion, the French brand also informs us about the technical possibilities. The two models have things in common, but they also differ from each other. This is possible because they are both built on the flexible CMF-B platform for electric cars. Renault has used parts from already existing electric models and from hybrid technology from Formula 1.
Clio E-Tech
The Clio E-Tech 140 hp is a hybrid without plug with a 1.2 kWh battery pack. It always starts in electric mode and stays in it up to a speed of 70 to 75 km / h. In the city it runs so almost completely emission-free, which saves a lot of gasoline. Also nice is the speed with which you can accelerate: in just 6.9 seconds from 80 km / h to 120 km / h.

Captur E-Tech Plug-in
Just like the Clio, the Captur E-Tech Plug-in 160 hp is equipped with a 1.6-liter petrol engine. However, the plug hybrid Captur has two electric motors – one of which has a high-voltage starter – and a 9.8 kWh battery pack. At a speed of up to 135 km / h, the plug-in hybrid can drive up to 50 km fully electrically, in the city even as far as 65 km. Instead of a regular gearbox, a smart, ‘multimodal’ transmission from F1 is used, which makes shifting smoothly.
Renaults E-Tech technology is therefore designed to be fun to drive. In addition, economical consumption is an objective. The latter is also promoted by facilities such as braking energy recovery, energy saving when the ‘gas’ pedal is released and automatic switching between driving modes. With the E-Save option you choose to run on fuel. The combined consumption of the plug-in hybrid Captur is (theoretically) at 1.5 l / 100 km.
At the showroom introduction we report on prices and equipment of the two hybrid models.
