Morgan has stopped building regular versions of the Plus 8 since 2018, but the English roadster with eight cylinder returns once. And how. This is the Morgan Plus 8 GTR, the strongest car Morgan has ever built.
Morgan’s delivery range currently consists of the Plus Four and Plus Six. Since 2018, the Plus 8 is no longer part of the Morgan family, but the car returns in a small series. Not just as a Plus 8, but as a mighty Plus 8 GTR.
After the crazy CX-T, the Plus 8 GTR is the second special version to be built in a small edition. Morgan will only produce 9 copies of the Plus 8 GTR. Although the Plus 8 GTR looks as if it is a racer intended purely for track use, the heavily dressed Morgan can just go on the public road. Just like in the last series of Plus 8s, under the hood is a 4.8 V8 from BMW. That eight-cylinder stamps out 380 hp instead of 362 hp in the GTR. This makes the Plus 8 GTR the strongest car Morgan has ever built.
Morgan puts the Plus 8 GTR on five-spoke wheels with a central wheel nut, modified wheel arches and exuberant spoiler work. The most striking detail is perhaps the roof of the muscular Briton. That is because it gives a fabric roof, but a hardtop. Fun fact: The production of the Plus 8 GTR is possible because Morgan found a set of never-sold Plus 8 chassis. All 9 copies have already been sold.
