Mother juices have a fruit content of 100 percent. They are therefore considered to be particularly healthy. In this article you will find out from which types of fruit mother juice can be obtained and how the juice actually works.

Mother juice is direct juice from the first pressing. This means that the fruit is only pressed once when making the juice. During pasteurization, the fruit is briefly heated to around 80 degrees, so the vitamins are largely preserved and the juices last longer.

No other ingredients such as sugar or water are added to mother juices or primal juices. Only the water pressed from the fruit and its nutrients are included. So mother juice really only consists of fruit and the fruit content is 100 percent. Unlike conventional juices, manufacturers either do not remove the turbidity at all or only partially. That’s why mother juices don’t have such a clear look.

Acidic fruits are particularly suitable for the production of mother juice. These include:

  • Aronia berries
  • pomegranate
  • sea ​​buckthorn
  • elderberries
  • black currants
  • blueberries
  • sloe
  • cranberries
  • cranberries

Because mother juices contain no other ingredients, they tend to be more acidic and bitter than other juices. Not everyone likes that. But you can drink mother juice diluted as a spritzer, add it to a smoothie or pour it over ice cream.

Since mother juice consists of pressed untreated fruit, its content of vitamins and phytochemicals is very high. Depending on the variety, these include:

  • antioxidants
  • catechins (bitter substances)
  • flavonoids
  • Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C and E
  • minerals like phosphorus, magnesium and iron

Due to the high vitamin and mineral content, mother juice is said to have the following effects:

  • He should strengthen your immune system – thanks to the high content of vitamin C and catechins.
  • Help with iron deficiency, because the body can absorb iron better due to the high vitamin C content.
  • Anti-inflammatory effect thanks to vitamin C, magnesium and the plant pigments flavonoids.
  • The juice should promote blood circulation can, which is due to the vitamins C and E, the flavonoids and the antioxidants.
  • It offers protection against free radicals that can damage cells – thanks to antioxidants.
  • Elderberry and cranberry mother juice can help with cystitis or kidney and bladder problems. This is due to the dye sambucyanin, which is considered a diuretic.

However, there are no specific studies on the effect of mother juice. However, the high amount of vitamins and ingredients is undisputed.

Important: When buying, make sure that the mother juice is of organic quality. This way you can be sure that the fruit has not been treated with synthetic chemical pesticides. Mother juice is available at drugstores, health food stores, and online.
