Motorola does not announce a foldable phone, but three devices in the Edge series: Ultra, Fusion and Neo. The smartphones have a ‘retro-modern’ design and the brand is particularly committed to photography. No Razr (it will come to Europe, but more late Motorola not talking about that at the moment), but three other phones. Three phones at three different price points. We’ll go through all three of them with you.
Motorola Edge 30 Ultra
Edge 30 Ultra is Motorola’s new flagship. It has a 6.67-inch OLED screen (with more than 1 billion colors), a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chip and a 200-megapixel main camera. The device also has a special ‘edge’, with which you can see that there is a notification for you if the phone is ‘face’ down with light. The device has a refresh rate of 144 Hertz and the 4610 mAh battery can charge at 125 Watts wired and 50 Watts wireless. A wired charger is included with the phone.
Special about the device is the satin glass back that seems to have relief, but feels very smooth. The device has an IP rating of 52 and is protected with Gorilla Glass 5. The device has a maximum of 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Thanks to Dolby Atmos, the two stereo speakers can play good audio, Motorola promises.
In terms of cameras, Motorola Edge 30 Ultra comes with a 200 megapixel main camera (which has the largest sensor ever in a Motorola device), a 50 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera (which is also a macro camera) and a 12 megapixel telephoto camera. On the front is a 60-megapixel selfie camera. Optical image stabilization is built into the phone and you can shoot videos in 8K.
Motorola introduces a new portrait mode with the device that allows you to take photos in 35 mm, 50 mm and 85 mm, depending on how much background you want in the photo.

Motorola Edge 30 Fusion
Edge 30 Fusion is more in the midrange category and has a 6.55 inch screen that can display more than 1 billion colors. It uses the Snapdragon 888+ 5G and has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The housing is frosted glass and the screen is a Full HD + OLED screen that can also refresh at 144 Hz. This device also has Dolby Atmos sound. The battery can charge at 68 Watts. Wireless charging is not possible.
In terms of cameras, Fusion comes up with slightly fewer megapixels than Ultra. The main camera is 50 megapixels and there is also a 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera (which can also take macro photos). The 32 megapixel selfie camera would take very sharp photos because there is ‘instant all pixel focus’ on the device. According to Motorola, autofocus only improves 5 percent of the pixels, while its special focus provides 100 percent of the pixels.

Motorola Edge Neo
For the Neo, Motorola has teamed up with Pantone, a leading color medium. The color of the year, Very Peri, is therefore the color of the new Motorola Edge Neo (in addition to three more colors, namely Ice Palace white, Aqua Foam blue and Black Onyx black). Unlike the other two devices, this Edge does not have a special, well, Edge: you see notifications thanks to LEDs around the camera island.
Motorola Edge Neo is 6.28 inches with a FullHD OLED screen that can refresh at 120 Hz. This screen can also display more than 1 billion colors and this device also works with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos for a better sound experience. The battery can charge at 68 Watts and wireless charging is an option. In terms of cameras, the device has a 64 megapixel main camera and a 13 megapixel wide-angle and macro camera. The selfie camera is 32 megapixels.
The device will also be equipped with Pantone colors on the ‘inside’ with new themes to personalize the device. It is also possible to drag widgets exactly the way you want, so that your main screen looks exactly the way you like it. Motorola also introduces its own font: Rookery, named after one built in Chicago. The new Pantone restyle immediately comes with new icons and a new gesture, namely ‘custom shortcut’, where you can open an app of your choice by tapping twice on the back of the device, for example the Androidworld app.

Motorola Update Policy
All devices are ‘ready for PC’, so you can use them in combination with a computer. Think of streaming apps, an instant message board, autopairing (so you don’t have to scan the QR code every time to make contact) and notifications within Windows. Motorola also introduces Moto Strongbox, a new security chip in devices that should make phones more secure, developed in collaboration with ThinkShield.
Finally, the question is, of course, what the status of Motorola’s update policy is. In this regard, it indicates that customers in this price range want certain options and that updates are a lengthy process, which is not necessarily a good combination, the brand believes. Because of this, it never promises updates for long. Ultra gets 3 OS updates and 4 years of security updates, while Fusion and Neo have to make do with 2 OS updates and 3 years of security updates.
All three phones will be available in the coming weeks: an exact date could not be given to us at the time of writing. What do you think of the new Motorola devices? Leave it now in the comments to this article.
