In the past, the motorcycles were simply sold from the brochure, but nowadays lifestyle seems to be the key word. After the Motorshops in major cities such as Rome and Paris, BMW has now come up with something unique: the BMW Motorrad ‘Point of Experience’. Motorplaza Heerenveen has been allowed to kick off.

To the hairdresser at a motorcycle dealer or enjoy a delicious lunch. It’s all possible at Motorplaza Heerenveen. This company, owned by passionate motorcycle enthusiast and entrepreneur Binne Hooijenga, can call itself the first BMW Motorrad ‘Point of Experience’ in the Netherlands.
This is about more than just motorcycles. It is also about experience in a showroom decorated in Motorrad style, complete with barbershop, lounge area and lunchroom. A meeting place where motorcyclists and enthusiasts can share their shared passion for powered two-wheelers.
Motorplaza Heerenveen was officially opened on Friday 25 March, led by guest presenter ‘Friend of the Brand’ and actor Waldemar Torenstra. The opening took place in the presence of Tom Crooijmans, Head of BMW Motorrad Netherlands, Anne Brons, CEO BMW Group Netherlands and Dr. Alexander Wehr, Vice President Customer, Brand, Sales BMW Motorrad. dr. Wehr had come over from Munich especially to compliment and congratulate the Hooijenga family and the Motorplaza Heerenveen team on this success.
Motorplaza Heerenveen has carried out a huge renovation and expansion in the past year after the acquisition of an adjacent building. The showroom now covers an area of no less than 6,000 m2, where the complete line-up of BMW Motorrad is located, plus accessories, motorcycle clothing and an outlet.
The workshop has also been enlarged and renovated. The interior meets BMW Motorrad ‘Point of Experience’ standards. It is a place where you do not only come for a new or used BMW motorcycle or for maintenance and repair. It is also the place to relax and enjoy a unique atmosphere where, for example, while waiting for maintenance, a visit to the barbershop or lunch can be enjoyed.
“Motorplaza Heerenveen is one of the largest motorcycle stores in the Benelux and one of the largest BMW Motorrad dealers worldwide,” said Tom Crooijmans, Head of BMW Motorrad Netherlands. “It is a ‘Point of Experience’, because motorcycling is not only about the product, but also about the experience. This is made even more tangible by this new showroom.”
The arrival of the first ‘Point of Experience’ in the Netherlands is a milestone that gives the strong market position of BMW Motorrad an extra shine. Anne Brons, CEO BMW Group Netherlands: “We have been the market leader in the Netherlands for twelve years with no fewer than 2,389 registrations and a market share of 15.58%. This upward trend continued vigorously in the first quarter of 2022 and we now record a market share of more than 15% again.”
dr. Alexander Wehr, Vice President Customer, Brand, Sales BMW Motorrad, noted at the opening of Motorplaza Heerenveen that 2021 was the best year ever for BMW Motorrad, with the delivery of 194,261 BMW motorcycles and scooters worldwide. “The Dutch market played a remarkable role in this. It’s not the biggest market for BMW Motorrad, but it’s incredibly solid with 12 years of market leadership. This is mainly due to an exceptionally professional dealer organisation. Motorplaza Heerenveen, the first BMW Motorrad ‘Point of Experience’ in the Netherlands, makes that clear.”
The new showroom in Heerenveen is open seven days a week, on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Motorplaza Heerenveen is located at De Mars 24 in Heerenveen.
