The National Police has hundreds of B-classes and A6s in use, but has now placed an order with Toyota. A bulk of Land Cruisers and Hilux can prove themselves as a servant in the field.
The National Police have chosen the Toyota Land Cruiser and Hilux after several tests. For example, the off-roaders had to prove themselves on public roads (with and without a trailer), in heathland, in the dunes and on the beach. Ergonomics, price and maneuverability were also important aspects. The two Toyota cars were the best test and are now used for calls in coastal and nature areas.
The police have specifically chosen the Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.4 D-4D 4WD Professional and the Toyota Land Cruiser 2.8 D-4D Professional. Toyota delivers the cars ‘turnkey’, which means that the police do not have to do anything about the cars. In the Toyota workshop, the SUVs are therefore equipped with their new stickers, specific equipment and construction.
The police are not the first government agency to knock on the door of Toyota for its SUVs. The Hilux and Land Cruiser are also used by Rijkswaterstaat, the fire brigade and the rescue brigades.
