The French Netatmo has launched the Smart Door Lock that should provide safer and more flexible access to a home. It is striking that the smart door lock comes with physical keys.

With the addition of the Smart Door Lock with Keys, Netatmo is further expanding its security line. As with other Netatmo products such as the Weather Station, there are no subscription fees when using the Smart Door Lock with Keys. PC-Active was present at the introduction in Paris.
EU certification and compatibility
The Smart Door Lock meets requirements that guarantee the highest level of mechanical and electronic security, according to the EN15684 standard. In addition, the Smart Door Lock is compatible with all doors that have a European cylinder and a thickness of maximum 10 cm. The Smart Door Lock is compatible with both single-point and multi-point locks. Doors with handles can also be used. Installation and burglary protection of Smart Door Lock
The installation is relatively simple and fast. The user of the lock replaces the current euro cylinder of the door lock using the supplied user manual. The Smart Door Lock is safe against both physical and cyber burglary attempts through the door. The lock has been tested and is resistant to physical burglary attempts such as lock picking, drilling holes, prying open and cylinder pulling. The cylinder, designed by Netatmo, is made of stainless steel, reinforced with an anti-drill plate and three safety pins. The Door Lock is not connected to a WiFi signal to prevent cyber burglary attempts. The lock only communicates with the user’s smartphone and Keys via encrypted Bluetooth communication.
The Secure Element is integrated in every door lock. This is a protected component that allows the user to validate unlocking, locking and adding a new Key. The user must be within range of the Smart Door Lock to manage the Keys.
Access with the Key
The Netatmo Smart Door Lock can be locked and unlocked by simply entering the Key like any standard key. The Keys are based on certified NFC technology and communicate with the Door Lock in a fully encrypted manner. The Keys cannot be duplicated and if lost or stolen, access can be immediately deactivated in the Home+ Security app. When you purchase the Netatmo Slim Door Lock, three keys are included. Additional Keys can be ordered in the Netatmo online shop. One Key can be added to multiple Door Locks. If the house has multiple entry doors, the user can lighten the key ring by using a single Key to lock and unlock multiple doors.
Access with smartphone and temporary access for visitors
Instead of using the Keys, the user can also choose to lock or unlock the Smart Door Lock with the smartphone. This can easily be done via the Home+ Security app. For example, the user can send an invitation from the Home+ Security app to grant temporary access to their home. Access can be revoked at any time. Visitors can download the Home+ Guest app for this.
The Smart Door Lock works on 4 included AAA batteries that should last more than a year. The user receives a notification via a smartphone one month before the batteries threaten to run out. If the Smart Door Lock is completely empty, the device can be connected to power via a backup micro-USB connection on the outside of the door. The micro USB connection is only connected to the power supply and can therefore not be used as access for hackers.
Compatibility and scenarios with other smart devices
The Netatmo Smart Door Lock is compatible with Apple HomeKit, making it possible to create smart interactions with other compatible products. For example, the user can develop a scenario whereby the light in the hall automatically switches on when he unlocks the Netatmo Smart Door Lock from the front door.
Price and availability
The Smart Door Lock and Keys will be available from October 10, 2023 for €379.99 without subscription costs or an extra home automation box. The product is available at www.netatmo.com and exclusively at CoolBlue. If you want to buy an extension set of 45mm or 40mm, it costs €29.99.
