The Ferrari Mondial that was fished out of the IJ this year, will be featured in a Netflix production. After that, the vehicle will be dismantled. That says owner Lowie Hoedt Jr. in conversation with NU.nl, after reporting by The Telegraph. Netflix is not yet able to confirm the reporting.
Car wrecker Hoedt, who now has the wreckage of the Mondial on its scrap yard, explains that Netflix wants to produce a fictional story about the Ferrari: “I understand that the story is about two boys who made good money in the eighties with the exploitation of 06 sex lines, “said the owner of car dismantling company De Ooyevaar The Telegraph. “They buy beautiful, expensive and fast cars with this money, including this Ferrari.”
The recordings of the unnamed Netflix production should start in February, according to Hoedt. According to him, the script is still in progress. According to Hoedt, it is ‘100 percent certain’ that the Ferrari will be taken apart afterwards. The fictional story would eventually also show the ‘reason’ behind the disappearance of the Mondial in the IJ.
The Ferrari was reported missing 26 years ago. In mid-July, the car was fished out of the IJ by the Amsterdam police, after fire brigade divers discovered it by accident a month earlier. An attempt by the wrecker to save the car by displaying the vehicle in Artis’s aquarium was unsuccessful.
