Netflix stops popular feature
Bad news if you regularly watch Netflix, because the streaming service has removed a commonly used feature. It is immediately no longer possible to stream Netflix from your smartphone to certain versions of the Google Chromecast. The latest models of the Google Chromecast no longer support this function, these are the versions that come with a remote control.
Do you have the newer Google TV Streamer? In that case, it is no longer possible to stream Netflix to the device via your smartphone. The same applies to almost all devices that work with a remote control. So you can no longer stream Netflix to most televisions, because they also work with a remote control. Instead, you need to use the Netflix application on the device in question.
Not for all Chromecasts
Netflix has the help page has now been adapted for casting series and films from a mobile device. On this page, Netflix confirms that it is no longer possible to stream content from a smartphone to most televisions and versions of Google Chromecast. Do you still have an older model of the Google Chromecast? Then we have good news, because it still works with Netflix.
These are the first versions of the Google Chromecast, which do not work with a remote control. These devices do appear in the Netflix application when you tap the cast symbol. Nothing changes with previous versions of the Google Chromecast, they continue to have support for casting Netflix. This is not the case with the Google TV Streamer and Chromecast with Google TV, where you must install the Netflix application to use the streaming service.
Use Netflix app
Do you regularly first search for a series or film on Netflix and then stream it to your television or Google Chromecast? In that case, you need an older Google Chromecast, because this is no longer possible with new models. You can install the Netflix application on the Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV and most smart televisions. This way you can still watch your favorite films and series on the larger screen.
For many users, this measure means bad news, as it is much easier to browse the Netflix mobile application.
