Netflix will be more expensive in the coming 5 years

Netflix streaming service has an ambitious financial goal that guarantees price increases in the coming 5 years. Although it is realistic that the subscription prices will rise over time, this goal does have a very substantial increase.

Earlier this month reported The Wall Street Journal That Netflix has set two goals that it wants to achieve in 2030. Firstly, in the coming 5 years, Netflix wants to increase its market value from the current $ 500 billion to 1 trillion dollar. That means a doubling. How Netflix wants to achieve that? That has to do with the second goal: Netflix wants a doubling of income in 2030.

Price increases are easy

Netflix can have the income double in all sorts of ways in the coming 5 years. Recruit more subscribers and generate more advertising income to name just something. The new functions could also add, as happened recently with mobile games. However, the easiest way is still to simply implement price increases.

Currently, the options and prices of Netflix are here as follows:

  • Netflix Basic: 8.99 euros per month.
  • Netflix standard: 13.99 euros per month.
  • Netflix Premium: 18.99 euros per month.

Netflix was introduced in the Netherlands in 2013. Then you had the choice of standard (7.99 euros per month) and Premium (11.99 euros per month). The price for Netflix standard has already doubled, but that has taken 12 years. Another doubling in the next 5 years means a price of 28 euros for Netflix standard.

Netflix Basic is now more expensive than Netflix standard in 2013. If that price is doubled, then you pay 18 euros for Netflix Basic. Streaming in SD quality for 18 euros per month now does not seem very realistic. But for the time being it is a fact that customers do not leave when Netflix increases prices. Whether that will remain the case if Netflix doubles the prices in the coming 5 years, can still be seen.
