New BMW 2 Series Active Tourer caught again

At BMW, the developers of the new 2-series Tourer are still busy with the test kilometers of prototypes. Our spy photographer put on his warm clothes and dove into the snow with the new BMW.

In mid-December, the new 2-series Active Tourer was recorded on the sensitive plate for the first time. That is the first time that BMW shows the MPV and thus confirms that the current generation will have a successor. This is remarkable, because the MPV segment is currently dying after death. Apparently, however, the car is still attractive enough for BMW to send a brand new generation into the world. During this second meeting we get a more extensive opportunity to take a look at the still tightly packed carriage. The car drives past several times.

Compared to last time, the BMW is unfortunately just as well packed with camouflage material. However, the masking wrap does not hide the fact that the 2 Series Tourer resembles the new 1 Series in many ways. The grille side promises to get the same remarkable shape and the shape of taillights is also known. Funny is the rear wiper that is taken from under the spoiler and assigned a new “normal” spot at the bottom of the window. Furthermore, the raised car gets an extra side window in the front doors and the side mirrors move from the A-pillar to the doors.

Like its predecessor, the new 2 Series Active Tourer becomes a front-wheel drive. It is not yet clear whether the more spacious Gran Tourer will return. The car is expected before the end of this or early 2021. The current 2-series Tourer has been running since 2014. A plug-in version is also expected this time.
