New BMW 2 Series Coupé caught

Coupé enthusiasts who are not charmed by the pronounced muzzle of the BMW 4 Series should still be patient. Munich will soon come with a completely new 2-series Coupé, which seems to get a less controversial design.

The 2-series Coupé that you can still find at the local BMW dealer, still shares its basis with the previous generation 1-series. The latest 1-series made the switch to a front-wheel drive platform, but for the upcoming 2-series Coupé BMW takes a detour. For this, the manufacturer is very likely to pull out a shorter version of the CLAR platform, which is used for the 3 and 4 series, among other things. So nice for those who don’t like a front-wheel drive two-door BMW coupe. The new 2-series Coupé has now been captured by our spy photographer.

The structure therefore remains more or less the same as that of the current model. The design also shows that BMW is on a relatively safe path. We can cautiously conclude that the small Bimmer does not get the decidedly massive grille found on the muzzle of the new M3 and 4 Series.

We can once again look forward to a range of diverse powertrains. A fierce M2 variant that will provide approximately 400 hp of rear-wheel drive fun, will soon be in charge. Whether that M2, just like the new M3 and M4, will also have a variant with xDrive all-wheel drive in addition to a rear-wheel drive version, is still uncertain. The M2 will undoubtedly include a milder M Performance model, although it is the usual petrol and diesel versions that should ensure the larger sales numbers. We expect the new 2-series Coupé to be on the market around the spring of 2021.
