New CEO for Ferrari

Ferrari has a new CEO after a six-month search. Coming from the technical industry, Benedetto Vigna is tasked with further preparing the illustrious Italian brand for the future.

Vigna, 52, currently works at STMicroelectronics, where he heads the ‘Analog, MEMS (Micro-electromechanical Systems) and Sensors’ division. Indeed, those are the microchips that are currently in such short supply in the automotive industry. He is also a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Of course Ferrari does not choose Vigna without good reasons. In the coming years, the Italian must ensure that Ferrari keeps up with the times and builds a lead over the competition. The brand considers Vigna’s knowledge and experience in the technical industry to be very valuable for this.

At Ferrari, a lot of changes are in the pipeline in the coming years. For example, the brand has already confirmed that the first fully electric purebred horse will be on the market in 2025. It is not yet entirely clear what form that EV will take, but it could well be an SUV. For Ferrari purists, that’s probably quite a culture shock, but there’s no escaping the SUV anyway. The Purosangue is coming anyway. It is expected to get a petrol engine, albeit with hybrid support.

Vigna will start his new position at Ferrari from September 1. He succeeds interim CEO John Elkann, who took over the honors after the resignation of Louis Camilleri.
