Watt Electric Vehicle Company presents eCV1

The English Watt Electric Vehicle Company (WEVC) has developed a new modular commercial vehicle in which design influences from Tesla’s electric Semi can be found without too much imagination. That doesn’t mean that WEVC’s electric commercial vehicle isn’t a smart newcomer.
Watt Electric Vehicle Company (WEVC) is a fairly young company that – the company name already indicates – focuses entirely on electric vehicles. WEVC has developed, among other things, an electric platform on which it builds a car that closely resembles the Porsche 356 and also wants to sell that platform to third parties. WEVC will also carry electric commercial vehicles. At the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, WEVC presented the eCV1, a modular commercial vehicle that will be built in various flavours.
WEVC wants to build up to 5,000 units of its smart modular commercial vehicle on an annual basis. The eCV1 is striking for several reasons. First of all, the WEVC eCV1 somewhat resembles the significantly larger Tesla Semi. But there’s more. For example, just like in that Tesla Semi, the driver sits in the middle of the cabin and not on the left or right side. According to WEVC, the driver can then simply get out on the side of the sidewalk. Perfectly usable in markets where people drive on the left or right side of the road. According to WEVC, the Watt eCV1 will also be available with room for two or three occupants.

Tasty in the middle.
The eCV1 will be available as a closed van and, in addition to a version with a larger body, will also have a version with an open loading platform. In addition, the eCV1 will be available as a chassis cab on which companies can set up their own superstructure. The Watt eCV1 is a so-called 3.5-tonne commercial vehicle and therefore has a considerable load capacity. The batteries are part of the base around which the eCV1 is built.
The battery pack of the eCV1 has a capacity of 110 kWh and gives the commercial vehicle an electric range of up to 370 kilometres. The chassis-cab variant weighs 1,750 kilos. Indicative prices are not yet available.
