The electric three-door that Mini currently has in the showrooms is the first but certainly not the last EV of the brand. The brand announces a range of new models and immediately shows a packed version of a new electric hatchback.

Mini wants half of the cars it sells to be fully electric from 2027 and the brand will of course not be able to save that with only the current electric Mini Electric. Certainly not if you know that Mini will present its last new model in 2025 that will still be available with combustion engines and that 2030 will be the year in which Mini’s model range only consists of electric cars. So what’s in the barrel?

Quite a bit. In 2023, Mini will introduce the first of a series of completely new electric models. Mini not only comes with a new electric three-door hatchback, but also with two electric crossovers. One of those high-leggeds comes in what Mini describes as ‘the compact segment’, the other in the ‘compact premium segment’. According to Mini, these new models with an electric powertrain are also available with petrol and diesel engines. Mini also reports that a new Countryman will see the light of day in 2023. That car will also be available as an EV. In addition, Mini releases the first images of a new electric hatchback, proving that Mini continues to walk the path of evolution with its design.

In addition, Mini indicates that it will produce two electric models in China, among other things to strengthen its position in the Chinese market. However, the new Countryman is just off the production line in Europe, but not in the United Kingdom. The new Countryman is being built in Leipzig, Germany. Mini has never built a car in Germany before. Striking: Mini also mentions the arrival of a new (electric) model for those looking for a car with more interior space. That could just be a hint to the arrival of an MPV-like model in the style of the Vision Urbanaut

However, the Mini factory in Oxford is not forgotten. According to Mini, that remains ‘the heart of the brand’. From 2025, Mini will in any case build the new Cabrio there, which is currently still being produced at VDL in the Netherlands.
