New entry-level diesel for Mercedes-Benz GLA

Anyone who is in the market for the new GLA has so far only been able to choose from two engine versions for diesel engines. That is different from now on. Mercedes-Benz expands the GLA range with a new diesel version: the 180d.

The second generation of the GLA has not been on the market for very long and that means that the engine range is not very extensive. Fortunately, Mercedes-Benz has a good tradition of steadily expanding the engine range of a new model, especially in the first year of the car’s life. To date, there were two diesel engines on the price list: the 150 hp 200d and the 190 hp 220d. Those two auto-ignitors are now joined by a new entry-level diesel: the 180d. Nice fact: where the 180d in the A-class is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder (OM 608), the 180d in the GLA is, just like the 200d and 220d, a 2.0-liter large four-burner of the type OM 654 .

The power of the 180d is 116 hp and 280 Nm, good for a sprint from a standstill to a speed of 100 km / h in 10.8 counts. The top speed is set at 190 km / h. Self-ignition is in all cases linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. The average consumption, depending on the chosen version, is 4.6-4.8 l / 100 km. 4Matic drive is not available, with the 200d and 220d there is that choice.

The GLA 180d has a starting price of € 50,710. This makes the price difference compared to the 200d more than € 3,200.
