New entry-level version makes BMW 2-series Active Tourer only slightly cheaper

AutoWeek has just announced the price of the new entry-level version of the BMW i4, but there is another BMW that will receive a new basic version. We are talking about the BMW 2-series Active Tourer, which is now also available as a 216i. AutoWeek can already report the starting price.

The BMW 2-series Active Tourer was already available with various petrol and diesel engines and the brand now adds a new entry-level model to that list of machines. Under the 136 hp 218i, BMW has found a hole to wring the 122 hp 216i. Like the 218i, the 216i Active Tourer has a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that is linked to a seven-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. In the Netherlands, the BMW 216i Active Tourer will cost €40,574, making it €1,815 cheaper than the 218i Active Tourer.

The 2-series Active Tourer sprints as 216i in 10.3 seconds to a speed of 100 km/h. Former entry-level 218i only needs 9 seconds to complete that sprint. Average consumption is at 6.2-6.7 l/100 km, almost equal to that of the 218i (6.2-6.8 l/100 km). Fun fact: BMW also supplies the 1-series as 116i, but that engine version is 109 hp and 190 Nm strong.
