New Fiat Panda: larger, electric and next to the current one

Does the Punto finally have a successor?

New Fiat Panda: larger, electric and next to the current one

In 2024, Fiat will finally launch a completely new Panda. It does a lot differently than the current one. It is growing in size and is coming to the market with, among other things, electric powertrains. And the current Panda? It simply continues to exist next to it.

This year Fiat was all about the 600, the compact crossover that will be marketed as a fully electric 600e. 2024 will be the year of the new Fiat Panda for the Italians. This will be a sister model of the new Citroën (ë-) C3. The Panda, like the C3 and five other Stellantis models, will be on the Smart Car Platform. This means that the new Panda is said to grow a size compared to the current model. While the Panda as you know it now remains under 3.7 meters, the Citroën ë-C3 is just over four meters long. Quite a difference in length. Thanks to Automotive News – which spoke to a spokesperson for the Italian branch of Stellantis – we now know that the new Panda does not completely replace the old model.

The current Panda would remain available alongside the new model until at least 2026. Fiat is therefore following the same path with the Panda as with the 500. The electric 500e is available in addition to the older 500 with combustion engines. Two separate models, which are related in terms of naming. Although the new Panda will soon be closer to the current model than the two 500s are to each other. In contrast to the ‘new 500’, the new Panda will be launched on the market with electric drivetrains and combustion engines.

If the new Panda – which will probably go into series production in Serbia – is indeed roughly the size of the new Citroën C3, then the Fiat Punto indirectly seems to finally have a successor. After all, the last Punto was about 4.05 meters long.
