In 2024, is there still room for a coupe or convertible with a big V8 in the nose? Definitely! At least, that’s what Ford thinks. It will bring the seventh generation Mustang to the Netherlands, which will be presented in 2022. While the previous Mustang was initially available here with a blown four-cylinder engine, the new one always has a 5.0 V8. There are different versions of it and it starts at almost €132,000.
The new Ford Mustang comes to the Netherlands as a Fastback and as a Convertible and also offers a relatively wide choice in terms of powertrains. For example, the Ford Mustang Fastback GT and the Mustang Convertible GT are available with a 446 hp 5.0 V8 and you can choose a six-speed manual transmission or a ten-speed automatic transmission. The even stronger Mustang Dark Horse dominates the top of the Mustang range. The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is only available as a Fastback and has a version of the same eight-cylinder engine that has been boosted to 453 hp. Striking: in its home country of the United States, the Dark Horse produces up to 500 hp. The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is also available with a manual gearbox and an automatic transmission.

The open Mustang GT Convertible with manual gearbox and automatic transmission is 0.1 seconds less fast in both cases, but the difference is negligible. The Ford Mustang Dark Horse with manual gearbox reaches 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The variant with automatic transmission is by far the fastest. After all, it reaches 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. The top speed of each Mustang is 250 km/h. The lightest variant weighs 1,736 kilos. The Convertible is the heaviest with a vehicle weight of 1,776 kilos.

The Ford Mustang GT costs at least €131,900 as a Fastback with manual gearbox. Would you prefer a Mustang GT Fastback with automatic transmission? Then you have lost €136,400. The open Mustang GT Convertible with manual gearbox costs just under 140 grand at €139,900, while the variant with ten-speed automatic transmission well exceeds that with its starting price of €144,400. The most powerful Mustang in the world – the Mustang Dark Horse – costs at least €145,400 in the Netherlands. That amount is for the manual variant. The Mustang Dark Horse with ten-speed automatic transmission changes hands from €149,900.
The Performance Pack is standard in the Netherlands. That brings things like 19-inch alloys, a limited slip differential, Brembo brakes and an exhaust with valves to the Mustang. Also standard are items such as a 13.2-inch infotainment screen that is visually merged with the digital and 12.4-inch measuring instruments.

The Dark Horse distinguishes itself technically from the Mustang GT with different camshafts and a double throttle body. The Dark Horse also has a Performance Pack as standard, although the top version includes extra coolers for the engine and transmission oil (in combination with the automatic transmission), a lighter radiator and – just like with the GT – a limited-slip differential. This package also includes reinforced stabilizer bars, a strut bar, extra powerful Brembo braking, a stiffer suspension and extra wide rear wheels with Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tires and the active MagneRide suspension. From the outside you can recognize the Dark Horse by its darker headlights, its black grille with trapezoidal ‘holes’, the different bumper work, the side skirts and the fixed rear spoiler. A rear diffuser and four dark exhaust tailpipes are also distinguishing features. Of course, an extensive set of Dark Horse badges and a special paint color – Blue Ember – are part of the Dark Horse party.
