New HomePod mini coming in 2025 (and must have this function)
Apple expert Mark Gurman from Bloomberg recently announced that Apple is working on a new HomePod mini. In his message, Gurman mainly discusses Apple’s new wireless chip. But there’s another feature that should definitely come to the HomePod mini.
This function is called Apple Intelligence and it would really make the HomePod and the HomePod mini much better. If you have a HomePod or a HomePod mini, you know that Siri sometimes doesn’t work properly. You often have to repeat the name of an artist or a song just a little too often before Siri understands it. Sometimes it is faster to manually start the correct song yourself.
HomePod (mini) with Apple Intelligence
With Apple Intelligence, Siri can suddenly do much more. In addition, Apple has already said that the search function of Apple Music will also receive an update. This will allow the music service to better understand natural language and commands. This search function is performed on Apple’s servers, which means that in principle it can also be used by Siri on the HomePod mini.
Apple has said that the new Siri is coming to the iPhone, iPad and Mac. But Siri’s main user is secretly the HomePod. So the speaker must also receive this update. This solves the few negatives of the speaker and one hit.
The HomePods now have another chip that is also in the Apple Watch. That means they are not powerful enough to use Apple Intelligence.
According to rumors, Apple is also working on a new HomePod with a screen and a chip that does support Apple Intelligence. But we would find it very strange if Apple chose not to equip the regular HomePod and mini with this new chip and Apple Intelligence.
