The lead up to the unveiling of the new Honda Civic Type-R is long. For a long time. Finally it is now known when Honda will finally present the new Civic Type-R. Hot hatch enthusiasts can put a big red circle on the calendar for July 21st.
July 21 is the moment finally there that Honda presents the brand new Civic Type-R. With this, Honda misses an important anniversary date by a hair. On July 12 it will be exactly 50 years ago that the first Civic went into production. Oh, what would it be. Knowing Honda, the new Civic Type-R is just going to be another stunner, and that’s what hot hatch land is all about.

Well before Honda presents the new Civic Type-R, the competitor of cars like the Volkswagen Golf GTI (Clubsport) is already on a world tour in which the Japanese powerhouse tries to set lap records. That already worked on Suzuka.
The new generation Honda Civic only comes our way in regular form as a hybrid e-HEV. Honda previously indicated that it will only sell electrified models in Europe. Does that mean that the Civic Type-R will pass the nose of the European consumer? Certainly not! However, we do not yet know exactly what the powertrain of the new Type-R will look like. For the time being, it is not entirely clear whether H0nda will make an exception to its European electrification policy for the hottest Civic or whether the Type-R will actually get an electrified powertrain.
Anyway: the Type-R will undoubtedly be a real party for the enthusiast. The last generations of Civic Type-R were heavily decked out with spoiler work. In its latest incarnation, the Type-R had a 320 hp four-cylinder petrol engine that unleashed its forces on the front wheels. The new Civic Type-R will also be a front-wheel drive again.
