Jeep has a bunch of new SUVs in its development center. One is the new generation of the Grand Cherokee, a car that also comes with a three-row variant. That extra practical SUV has now been caught in public in a camouflage suit.
All over the world – except in China – the Grand Cherokee is currently the largest SUV Jeep has on the price lists, but the brand is expanding. Jeep will park the Grand Wagoneer a step above the Grand Cherokee, but it doesn’t stop there. The gap that will soon be between the Grand Cherokee and the more luxurious and larger Grand Wagoneer will be filled with a new variant of the Grand Cherokee.
For the first time in Grand Cherokee history, the SUV will also be available in a longer variant with a third row of seats. That turns the car into a seven- and perhaps even an eight-seater. What will take place under the coach of the new Grand Cherokee is not yet entirely clear. Jeep probably puts the new generation of the SUV on a modified version of the Giorgio platform that Alfa Romeo uses for cars like the Giulia and Stelvio. A reveal is scheduled for later this year, a time when the regular Grand Cherokee will also be shown to the world.
