New Mercedes-Benz S-class gets special airbags

The S-class is the showpiece of the Mercedes stable and so the arrival of a new generation of that top limousine can best be characterized as ‘a thing’. The brand already releases a handful of novelties of the new S-class.

The S-class functions according to good Mercedes tradition as a showcase of what Mercedes-Benz is capable of in terms of technology. The top sedan is pumped with new technologies at every generation change, mostly innovative technology that seeps through to the other models of the brand in the following years. In September Mercedes-Benz presents a brand new one Sensory class and so expectations are high. Mercedes-Benz releases a small dose of new information about the new top sedan.

Mercedes-Benz recently released the first information about the new S-class infotainment system and this time the manufacturer highlights a number of safety novelties. Mercedes-Benz reports that the new S-class will be the first passenger car to be produced in series with front airbags for the rear passengers. The drop bags must be able to adapt to the presence of child seats, among other things. In addition, Mercedes-Benz gives the S-class beltbags, inflatable seat belts, for the passengers in the undoubtedly generous rear seat.

Mercedes-Benz further reports that in the event of an imminent side-impact collision, the E-Active Body Control chassis of the new S-class not only “moves” occupants to the center of the car by inflating the seat cushions, but also that the complete car will be raised on its feet. According to the manufacturer, the S-class is better able to absorb the impact of the collision in this way. The new S-class safety systems will be explained in more detail later this week. The completely new S-class will be presented in its entirety on 2 September. The appearance of the new top limousine is no longer a huge surprise. The car has turned up in test suit several times and recently the new nose of the Mercedes salmon was very well viewed.
