New Mitsubishi Colt coming this fall

The all-new Mitsubishi ASX will be in dealers from March, but that’s not the only new model Mitsubishi is introducing this year. This fall we will be introduced to the new Colt!

As a member of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, Mitsubishi can take full advantage of partner Renault’s range of models. The new Mitsubishi ASX is in fact a Captur over which the Japanese have poured their own mild sauce. The recipe seems to please the brand. A new generation of Mitsubishi Colt is arriving and it shares its base with another Renault model: the Clio. We already knew that a new Colt was coming, but now it is known when: this fall.

Mitsubishi’s delivery range could use some fresh blood. Before the arrival of the new ASX, Mitsubishi only had the Eclipse Cross and the aging Space Star on offer. In addition, there is now a new Colt, but Mitsubishi, like the youngest ASX, has not developed it itself. Just as the ASX leans on the Captur, Mitsubishi uses the Clio as a mainstay for the new Colt. The Colt will undoubtedly receive some Mitsubishi details, but will otherwise be very similar to the Clio. Count on a 90 hp 1.0 and a hybrid powertrain with about 145 hp.

In 2014, Mitsubishi cut the last Colt from the delivery range. In the form of the Smart ForFour, built just like the ASX at NedCar in Born, the Colt had a brother from another brand. For the first time in nine years, a new Colt will soon be available at Mitsubishi dealers. Given the Clio base, it is only available as a five-door hatchback. The last Colt was available as a five-door (CZ5), as a three-door (CZ3) and as a folding roof convertible (CZC). The new Colt will soon be produced in Bursa, Turkey. Indeed, Renault produces the Clio there.
