New Mitsubishi L200 ready for debut

Contractors, gardeners and other entrepreneurs who regularly transport a solid load over less accessible terrain from A to B can put a large circle on the calendar at 26 July. That is the day on which the new Mitsubishi L200 appears.

The Mitsubishi L200, called ‘Triton’ outside Europe and which you could also order in the Netherlands until recently, has been around for about nine years now. You would probably not give that to the workhorse, as it still fits perfectly between the rest of the Mitsubishi models with its fierce face that the pick-up was fitted to in 2018. Nevertheless, a completely new L200 is coming soon. In March this year, Mitsubishi already previewed the new L200 with the XRT Concept and now the brand is showing the first shadowy images of the final production version.

The L200 doesn’t have to stay in the dark for long. On July 26, Mitsubishi turns on the lights and the car is presented in its entirety. Just like the current model, the L200 is again produced in Thailand and it is therefore not very surprising that it is making its world debut in that country. The new Mitsubishi L200 also gets an impressive front, complete with a large angular grille, flat LED daytime running lights and the actual headlights one floor below.

The current generation L200 also briefly had an Italian brother in the form of the Fiat Fullback. That car was also briefly delivered in the Netherlands, but Fiat was unable to bring great success. The L200 was also available as a Ram 1200. With that collaboration between Mitsubishi and the then Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the Japanese and American manufacturer seemed to have found each other again, just like before with the Diamond-Star Motors collaboration. However, the party was short-lived.
