New on Videoland: best series and films of August

Adultery (seasons 1 to 3)

A handsome photographer (Iris) and a public prosecutor (Pepijn) form a set. As soon as Iris encounters the charismatic lawyer Willem during an exhibition, everything changes. The two have an affair. A salient detail is that Willem, in his role as a lawyer, takes the chestnuts out of the fire for the controversial real estate magnate Huub Couwenberg. That’s his father-in-law. Pepijn is putting the relations even more on edge by starting a legal case against Huub (and therefore also Willem) on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service. This gripping thriller series will keep you on the edge of your seat during every episode.

Grown-ish (seasons 1 to 3)

If you are a loyal viewer of the popular comedy series Black-ish, then the first three seasons of Grown-ish are definitely worth watching. This spin-off follows the eldest daughter (Zoey) of the Johnsons family. She leaves the parental home and goes to university. Unfortunately, the fickle student life is sometimes hard for her. Although the young student makes new contacts, they occasionally get her into trouble. Zoey comes into contact with narcotics, she rushes through school assignments and runs into bad friends. Meanwhile, Zoey’s father is deeply concerned. The first three seasons are now on Videoland. By the way, a fourth season has already been filmed, so there’s even more in the pipeline.

The L-Word: Generation Q (season 2)

The L-Word: Generation Q sheds light on the world from the perspective of the LGBT community. This series depicts the challenges facing a close-knit group of friends from Los Angeles. How do the lesbians and other characters from the series deal with various prejudices, heartbreak, setbacks and success. The L-Word: Generation Q is a spin-off of The L Word, which was released from 2004 to 2009. Little is known about the content of the second season, although a trailer has been released. The ten episodes will appear on Videoland from August 21.

Costa del Crime

The southern Spanish coast is not only a popular refuge for tourists, because behind the beautiful coastlines are important drug trade routes. For that reason, the Costa del Sol is also called the Costa del Crime. In this documentary, Mick van Wely heads south to map out the drug routes. For example, the well-known crime journalist sails with the local police to find drug boats, while he also takes a look behind the scenes at various other police actions. Costa del Crime can be seen from 12 August.

Grand Prix Zandvoort

On 3, 4 and 5 September, the itinerant Formula 1 stronghold will finally return to Zandvoort after more than 35 years. This four-part docuseries discusses previous Formula 1 races that have taken place on the asphalt amid the dunes. Why did the world’s most popular racing festival leave the Dutch seaside resort and what hurdles did the organizers have to take to organize another Formula 1 race after all these years? Jan Lammers speaks in this docuseries. The episodes can be seen from August 23.

New titles

In addition to Costa del Crime and Grand Prix Zandvoort, two more interesting documentaries will appear on Videoland at the end of August with A Discovery Tour Through Chernobyl and Behind The Scenes Of A Large Cruise Ship. In addition, the streaming platform is again pulling out all kinds of well-known films, such as Amsterdamned, Cruel Intentions, Snitch, The Boy Next Door, The Green Mile, The Scorpion King, The Terminator, Green Zone and City of Lies.
