The appearance of the new Range Rover Sport is another pretty well-kept secret. Land Rover does not seem to intend to reveal the prototypes very much for the time being. Thanks to our observant spy photographer, we now have a good idea of what the Sport’s lighting will look like.
Land Rover opts for evolution rather than revolution with the Range Rover Sport, just like its big brother, the Range Rover. Like its predecessors, the new Range Rover Sport has a flatter rear window than the Range Rover and the silhouette remains largely the same as that of the current model. The lighting of the Sport seems to go in a completely different direction.
In the spy photos, the headlights and taillights poke through the camouflage material, which already creates a nice picture of the light units. An apparently not too happy gentleman tries in vain to remove the prototype from the photographer’s lens. At the front are freely pinched LED headlights that are somewhat reminiscent of the Velar’s viewers. This comparison can also be applied to the rear lights, because from now on they are horizontal. Land Rover therefore opts for the Range Rover Sport emphatically for a different approach than with the narrow vertical rear lights of the Range Rover.
Apart from the light units, the prototype does not reveal much more about the appearance of the new Range Rover Sport. The new Range Rover Sport is likely to be on the MLA base. That new platform makes further electrification possible, although Land Rover also has a thick SVR version in the barrel. Land Rover is expected to pull the curtain on the Range Rover Sport this year.
