There was already a suspicion that the upcoming iPad Air models would have an M3 chip and a new rumor now confirms this.
iPad Air models get an M3 chip
The famous X user Evan Blass recently shared an image of what appears to be source code for the unreleased 11-inch iPad Air, 13-inch iPad Air, and iPad 11. It’s unclear where this information comes from, but Blass has a pretty good track record when it comes to is about rumors. For example, in 2020 he unveiled marketing images for the iPhone 12 lineup and the HomePod mini.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in October that the new iPad Air models will likely get the M3 chip. So the new Evan Blass rumor seems to support this suspicion.
iPad 11
Blass does not mention which chip the iPad 11 will receive, but Gurman previously said that the device will be equipped with the A17 Pro chip and 8 GB of RAM to enable Apple Intelligence support on the entry-level iPad model.
Apple unveiled the iPad 10 with an A14 Bionic chip and 4 GB of RAM in October 2022. The price then started at 589 euros, but Apple later reduced the price to 439 euros. It is unclear whether the iPad 11 starts at 439 euros, or whether prices will return to a higher level.
New iPads in March or April
Apple last updated the iPad Air in May 2024 with the M2 chip and also introduced the very first 13-inch iPad Air model. The new versions will probably be released in March or April this year. No major changes to the design of the new iPad Air have been reported besides the M3 chip. We also expect that new Magic Keyboards will also appear in addition to the new iPads.
Blass also confirms the arrival of the iPhone SE 4 in the same rumor. We expect it to be released at the same time as the aforementioned iPads in March or April.
