Samsung launches more personalized wellness tools and extra accurate health measurements with the latest version of the BioActive Sensor, which will be available on the next Galaxy Watch [1].

The new BioActive Sensor is essential to providing better preventative health features on the upcoming Galaxy Watch. Samsung has improved the sensor in three ways: better photodiodes, multiple colors of LEDs, and a better distribution of LEDs across the sensor.
The performance of the photodiodes has been more than doubled, allowing the number of photodiodes required to be reduced from eight to four. This leaves room for the additional color eds. The new sensor has blue, yellow, violet and ultraviolet LEDs, in addition to a larger number of green, red and infrared LEDs. This innovative technology enables new ways of health monitoring on wearables.

Greater accuracy and new forms of preventive health functions
The improved distribution of green, red and infrared LEDs ensures even more precise measurements. The new BioActive Sensor measures heart rate, sleep quality, blood pressure, etc. [2]blood oxygen levels and stress levels [3]. Even measuring heart rate during intense workouts has been improved by 30% compared to the previous version.
The new LEDs and specially designed photodiodes allow for better prediction of trends and enable users to take preventive steps to improve their health. For example, with the Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) Index [4]which provides an indication of metabolic health and biological aging. AGEs are strongly influenced by lifestyle and dietary habits. The index provides a snapshot of biological age, so that users can work well-informed towards a healthier future.

The AGEs Index is just one of many new features coming to the next Galaxy Watch, more on which to come soon.

1. Compared to Galaxy Watch6.
2. The Blood Pressure feature is only available in select markets. To ensure accuracy, users should calibrate their device with a traditional blood pressure cuff every four weeks. The BP app cannot diagnose high blood pressure, other conditions, or detect signs of a heart attack. This app is only for use by those 22 years and older. Not intended to replace traditional diagnosis or treatment by a qualified healthcare professional.
3. Feature availability may vary by market. Galaxy Watch is intended for general wellness and fitness purposes only. Not intended for use in the detection, diagnosis, or treatment of any medical condition or disease.
4. AGEs Index monitoring will be available on the new Galaxy Watch series. Galaxy Watch uses light sensors that operate within the safety requirements set by IEC62471. However, people with photosensitive skin may experience adverse reactions such as skin discoloration or rashes. Avoid using this feature if you experience symptoms of photosensitivity. AGEs Index monitoring is intended for fitness and wellness purposes only and is not intended for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition. If you have any concerns about your health, please consult a physician.
