New Toyota Tundra: cheeky

Toyota has shown an image of the all-new Tundra earlier than it initially wanted. The new Toyota Tundra tries to put its teeth into competitors like the Ford F-150 with a bold front with a large fence in it.

The unveiling of the new Toyota Tundra is scheduled for later this month, but unfortunately for Toyota, the first photos of the new full-size pickup have already leaked onto the internet. Toyota has therefore decided to put a clear image of the new Tundra on the web. The Tundra is a car that you probably know, even though the car was never officially sold here. Just like cars like the F-150 from Ford and the Silverado from Chevrolet, you regularly see an imported Tundra in the Netherlands. The first generation Tundra was launched in the US in 1999 in response to cars such as the Ram 1500 and the aforementioned F-150 and Silverado. The new third generation Tundra is ready to enter the market later this year.

The Tundra is Toyota’s largest model in its US pickup range, which also includes the Tacoma. The new Tundra replaces the model that appeared on the market in 2007 and has been kept current for about fourteen years through various facelifts. With the new Tundra, Toyota is following the design trend that prevails in the pick-up segment, which means that Toyota’s largest SUV will also receive a truly immense fence. The gigantic grille flows into a black ornament in the front bumper that optically enlarges the whole. Toyota writes its name in capital letters in the grille and sticks strikingly shaped headlights on both sides. The new Tundra also gets a more playful window line, complete with a nod near the A and C-pillars. The Tundra in the photos is a sportier version of the TRD Pro, so don’t be surprised if the regular copies of the new Tundra are decked out a little less enthusiastically.

It is very likely that the new Toyota Tundra will be available with a hybrid powertrain, among other things, although not every Tundra will have partial electrical power. The new Toyota Tundra is not coming to the Netherlands. At least not through the official channels.
