Apple has released new versions of the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse. You need to know this.
New versions Magic Keyboard
The most important innovation of the new Magic Keyboard versions is the USB C connection. And this applies to all three models of the new Magic Keyboard:
- Magic Keyboard from 119 euros: the compact model without Touch ID.
- Magic Keyboard from 169 euros: the compact model with Touch ID.
- Magic Keyboard from 199 or 229 euros: model with numeric keypad and Touch ID – the only model available in two colors (black is more expensive).
The new Magic Keyboards with USB C connection are available immediately.
Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse
In addition to the new Magic Keyboards, Apple also has new versions of the Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse released. The Magic Trackpad with USB C connection is available in black (169 euros) and white (139 euros). Furthermore, the Magic Trackpad is unchanged from its predecessor.
The same applies to the new version of the Magic Mouse. That may be a setback for anyone who already uses a Magic Mouse. The biggest criticism of that mouse is that the connection for the charger is at the bottom. That means it’s impossible to use the mouse when it’s charging.
Bad news for anyone who hoped that Apple would address this problem with a new version: the USB C connection of the new version of the Magic Mouse is once again at the bottom.
The problem is that Apple blocks the Magic Mouse from functioning when it receives power, so in that regard it doesn’t matter where the charging port is. You cannot use it while charging. This is not the case with the Magic Keyboard or Trackpad, which can be used while charging.
The new Magic Mouse versions are available immediately. You pay 85 euros for a white one and if you choose the black one you are 119 euros lost, even if there is no difference on the inside. Colored versions that come with the iMac are not available separately. The Lightning version can still be found online for a reduced price.
