New Volkswagen Tiguan: less expensive and more expensive than Passat

The new Volkswagen Tiguan will appear on the price list at the same time as the brand new Passat. That car is also only available with electrified powertrains in the Netherlands. The new Volkswagen Tiguan is available with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains and has a starting price that is only slightly below that of the Passat, although for the basic price you do get a less powerful powertrain than in the entry-level Passat.

The starting price of the new Volkswagen Tiguan is set at €46,990. This is therefore 2 grand below that of the new Volkswagen Passat. An important difference: the entry-level Passat immediately has the 150 hp mild-hybrid 1.5 eTSI, while the basic Tiguan in its most affordable form has a 130 hp variant of the same mild-hybrid 1.5. A Tiguan with a 150 hp 1.5 e-TSI is available from €51,990 and is therefore more expensive than the Passat, although the versions are not the same in that case.

Would you prefer a Volkswagen Tiguan with which you can drive about 100 kilometers electrically? Then Volkswagen offers you – just like with the Passat – the choice of two plug-in hybrid powertrains. It is available as a 204 hp 1.5 eHybrid from €50,990 and as a 272 hp 1.5 eHybrid drivetrain from €55,990. The mild-hybrid Tiguans (1.5 eTSI) always have a seven-speed DSG with seven gears. The plug-in hybrid versions have to make do with a six-speed DSG automatic transmission.
