The reign of the almighty Nissan GT-R is coming to an end soon. At least in Europe. A Nissan spokesman confirmed this to Carscoops.
After 13 years, the mighty Nissan GT-R is leaving Europe. A spokesman for the English branch of Nissan tells Carscoops that Nissan will stop production of versions of the GT-R for the European market at the end of this month. The powerhouse that appeared on the European market in 2009 is discontinued because the car no longer meets the noise requirements that the European Union sets for new cars.
It will soon be in Europe so over and out for the GT-R. The fact that Nissan does not immediately have a successor ready in Europe is extra painful because the new Z is not coming our way either. There is, however, a successor for the GT-R in the barrel, a model with probably an electrified powertrain, but you will have to wait a few more years.
The Nissan GT-R has been thoroughly developed over the years. The car once started with a 485 hp 3.8 V6, but that biturbo six-cylinder now produces 570 hp. There’s even a Nismo variant that kicks it up to 600 horsepower. That Nismo variant had a starting price of more than €3 tons in its last incarnation. The GT-R can no longer be ordered in the Netherlands.
