In honor of the twentieth anniversary of its European design department, Nissan presents this Nissan Concept 20-23. A heavily developed compact electric car, which undoubtedly sheds some light on the new electric Micra.
Nissan Design Europe has been around for twenty years and Nissan is certainly not letting this go unnoticed. It pulls this 20-23 Concept out of the hat to celebrate the party. This ‘new, sporty electric hatchback’ is of course the work of the same department. We see a fairly heavily extended hatchback with special interrupted LED circles as lamps, a thick roof spoiler, large wheel arches with ‘louvers’ at the top so that the air must be evacuated more quickly to reduce air resistance. On the back of the 20-23 there is a diffuser at the bottom of the very angular bumper that you are complaining about and of course it lacks exhaust tips.
The interior of the Nissan 20-23 Concept is even more extravagant. We see a quite futuristic and minimalist cockpit that can accommodate two people. Just like on the outside, influences from racing are clearly visible here. Look at the deep racing buckets, the six-point harnesses and the racing steering wheel. According to Nissan, the Nissan 20-23 Concept, where the name stands for the number of years that NDE has existed and 23 of course for this year, is inspired by the ‘online racing world’. Nissan also sees a place for the 20-23 Concept in the bloodline of compact, striking city cars such as the Be-1, Pao, Figaro and S-Cargo.

New Nissan Micra
One very important model name is omitted, which is what this study model has the most to do with: Micra. We undoubtedly see here a harbinger of the brand new Nissan Micra or the possible successor to the retiring Micra. At the beginning of last year, Nissan presented a teaser image on which we clearly saw the same headlight consisting of two semicircles as on this 20-23 Concept. Based on the teaser image and the fact that Nissan’s next compact hatchback will be a cousin of the electric Renault 5, we have already sketched the new Nissan ‘Micra’. The now unveiled concept car shows that we were already reasonably in the right direction.

The new Renault 5 therefore already gives a good idea of ​​what can be expected technically from the ‘Micra’. Carefully count on a front-wheel drive electric hatchback with at least a 136 hp electric motor and a driving range of up to about 400 km. There is a good chance that Nissan, like Renault, will do everything it can to get the price tag below €30,000. In any case, the Renault 5 should become cheaper than the Renault Zoe, so that is a good sign. We will probably only get to see the Micra successor for the first time next year. The Renault 5 will be on the market next year, the Nissan will undoubtedly lag behind.
